Family-centric care at every step in your oral health journey

As the term suggests, “general dentistry” is a lot of different things. From preventative services like exams and professional cleanings to restorative treatments like dental crowns and implant restorations, Dr. Jessica Williams and other general dentists essentially handle methods and services to protect, detect, treat, and sustain the health of the teeth, gums, and mouth. However, general dental practices can still vary considerably in their offerings, capabilities, and approaches to caring for patients.

General Dentistry

Fact or myth? If you have a cavity, you will know it. Myth, Mild tooth decay has no symptoms. Sensitivity begins to occur when the tooth decay is already causing damage to the nerve. Today’s dentistry prevents tooth decay with sealants and other conservative methods. Fact or myth? Sugar is the prime cause of cavities. A fact and also a myth. Acid is the main trigger in producing the bacteria that causes cavities. The bacteria is then fueled by the consumption of carbohydrates. Sugar is a trigger in cavities, but carbs as a whole are the main cause. Fact or myth? Cavities are the prime reason for root canals. Myth. Root canals are a result of nerve damage. And untreated cavity could lead to nerve damage, but root canals are on set by number of different factors. Facts on myth? Brushing and flossing are the best way to prevent cavities. Fact. Fact or myth? Expensive toothpastes are always better than cheaper ones. Myth. Different toothpastes are better for different teeth in situations. Sometimes moderately priced toothpaste can be more effective. Ask the dentist about what might be best for your teeth. And always look for the ADA seal of approval. Fact or myth? You should visit your dentists at least twice a year. FACT.

Williams Dental Studio partners with families in Stockbridge and across north-central Georgia. Since these family members vary considerably in terms of age, needs, and goals, we are proud to offer an array of products, treatments, and expertise. We have made it convenient and comfortable to get everything your mouth needs to be healthy, and your smile needs to look attractive under our well-appointed roof.

We take this same “big picture” approach to building relationships with our patients. Dr. Williams understands that you are more than a set of teeth and gums to be “drilled, filled, and billed.” You are a unique individual whose specific needs and preferences are based on everything from the foods you eat and how you brush and floss to your overall mental and physical health status.

Similarly, when accounting for these factors, we appreciate the considerable influence oral health has on the overall health of the body and one’s general well-being and quality of life. By protecting the teeth and gums from conditions like dental decay and periodontal disease, we maintain the function and comfort needed to support a nutritional diet and proper digestion. We support mental health and self-image by keeping your teeth healthy and looking great. After all, the appearance of your smile can either help or hinder your confidence and sense of self. Lastly, certain strains of harmful bacteria and inflammation associated with advanced periodontal (gum) disease have been implicated in developing heart disease, stroke, and other threats to your systemic health.

At some stage, you or a family member will likely benefit from all of the following categories of services available at our studio to keep everyone looking, feeling, and “being” their healthy best:

  • Routine services – All patients should visit us at least twice yearly, regardless of the specific factors or characteristics mentioned above. These bi-annual visits allow Dr. Williams to check your mouth for problems that might otherwise go undetected. She also screens for oral precancers and cancers. No such “check-up” would be complete without a good teeth cleaning and polishing by one of our talented hygienists. They remove stubborn plaque, surface stains, and bacteria responsible for stinky breath. During these visits, we can also provide guidance on things like proper brushing techniques and recommendations for professional preventive services like dental sealants and oral appliance therapy (“night guards” to protect the teeth from the effects of chronic bruxism or teeth grinding).
  • Cosmetic dentistry – We know the power of a beautiful smile! Dr. Williams can dramatically, comfortably, and safely transform the smile with professional teeth whitening (Zoom), porcelain veneers, and even discreet/invisible clear aligners (ClearCorrect) as an alternative to silver-colored metal braces.
  • Restorative dentistry – By using quality and advanced materials like zirconia and porcelain, Dr. Williams can rebuild parts or all of a broken, decayed, damaged, or weak tooth. Our restorations are cosmetic, biocompatible, and durable. Patients may benefit from tooth-colored fillings, inlays, onlays, and full crowns (sometimes preceded by root canal therapy) to preserve existing teeth. Dr. Williams designs dental bridges, partials, and complete dentures for tooth replacement and restores implants or “artificial tooth roots” with dental prostheses.

We also provide extraction (tooth removal) and periodontal or gum therapy services as needed. Emergency care is available for peace of mind. Call (770) 506-2443 with questions or to schedule your appointment at Williams Dental Studio in Stockbridge, GA, today.
